The most recent meal I had with my friends was China Jade in Denver. We ate school four days in Hamburg’s and orange chicken
(Actually, I had never heard of orange chicken before I came to America); thus,
I suggested my friends to have a Chinese cuisine together at Thursday night. We
used to come to China Jade twice a week last year. The restaurant has just
completed decoration and has added a lot of new dishes. China Jade is mainly
engaged in Sichuan cuisine, a southwestern part of China, which is famous for
spicy flavor. We ate Kung Pao Chicken, boiled fish, fried potato, fried mutton
slices with scallions, and lamb kebabs. Kung Pao chicken is a representative of
Sichuan cuisine and it is one of my favorite dishes, but I was disappointed
because the chef did not cook well. In addition, I highly recommend the boiled
fish and fried mutton slices with scallions in China Jade. If you like spicy food,
they are definitely your fist choices in Chinese cuisine. It was really
surprised when my friend Tian ordered lamb kebabs in China Jade because it was
the first time I ate lamb kebab in America.
Lamb kebab is characteristic of Chinese Western food and I can eat
nearly everywhere in Beijing’s streets. However, many supermarkets in Denver do
not sell mutton and we cannot cook by ourselves. Denver is not like other
cities; such as New York and San Francisco have a China Town. Despite the
expensive for a Chinese restaurant, enjoying a hometown cuisine is the most
looking forward things to me. It is the beginning of a new quarter and after 10
weeks I will go back home. In my mind, hometown dishes can alleviate
homesickness.
